Using I-View to Access Images of Geohazard Slide
Set
Building a Slide Show
1. Start I-View by clicking on its Icon,
found
on the Start Menu or Desktop
2. Select Slideshow under the File
pull down menu.
3. Navigate to the drive and directory of interest.
Some guidelines:
-
The current path can be determined by clicking once on the
small black down arrow next to the "Look in" box.

To move up one folder click on the folder button with the
up arrow.
4. There is no "Preview" box in the slide show
menu so it may be necessary to first select "Open" under file. That menu
box has a preview options. Another way to see many images at once
is by using the Thumbnail menu, also under File.
5. To add images to a slide show they must be selected
and added. Click on an image to select it. Click on the Add button
and it will appear in the second window.

6. Any number of images may be Added to the slideshow.
These images can be gathered from any directory or drive.
7. Several aspects of the slide show can be manipulated.
Specifically note:
-
Slides may advance automatically or by RIGHT mouse click.

Image File names may be shown on image.
-
A slideshow may loop indefinitely.
Saving a Slide Show for Later
Use
8. When a group is gathered, the list may be saved
to a text file by clicking on the "Save to TXT File" button. In the
future, this group may be reassembled easily by clicking on "Load from
TXT File" button, and selecting this file. Guidelines:

When "Save to Text" is clicked on, a dialog box appears.
The saving location must be selected. A personal network folder is preferable
because it can be accessed from any location on the network.

A filename must be typed into the dialog box also.

When the text file is being loaded the user must have access
to the images through the same path that was used when created. This will
usually be the case because a persons "Log On Script" sets up thoseconnections
and establishes the drive letter.
Setting Up I-view on an Office
Computer
1. To set up I-view copy the program
file from the geology file server to any folder on drive c: of the office
computer.
h:\programs\I_view\i_view32.exe
2. To make a shortcut on the desktop:

Right mouse click anywhere on the desktop.

Select "New" then "Short cut."

Click on the browse button, navigate
to program file
-
Continue with the required steps, clicking
on Finish to complete the task.
